14 May 2018: Fiat builds two millionth 'modern' 500

Fiat has celebrated building the two millionth 'new 500' since launching its reborn light hatch in 2007. More than six million 500s have been shifted since the legendary original was launched in 1957, for reference.

According to the company, 80 per cent of 500 sales come from outside Italy, making it the most popular Fiat globally.



15 May 2015: Seat Leon ST Cupra becomes fastest wagon around the 'Ring

As part of its presentation for the Worthersee festival that's currently taking place in Austria, Seat announced that the front-wheel drive Leon ST Cupra completed a lap of the famed Nordschleife in 7:58.12 minutes.

This feat was achieved with Spanish racing driver Jordi Gene behind the wheel. The wagon in question was equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission and a limited slip differential.

15 May 2014: Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro concept revealed

The new Audi S3-based super sedan produces a phenomenal 386kW of power and 600Nm of torque from its 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine, with all of that grunt sent to all four 21-inch wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic automatic.

Audi claims the car - which features a new launch control system with controlled wheel-spin allowance - can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, faster than the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback (both 3.9sec) but not quite as quick as the recently revealed Audi R8 LMX (3.4sec). Its top speed is 310km/h.



13 May 2013: Peugeot 308 revealed

The new Peugeot 308 has been unveiled by the French car maker, though Australian customers have another year to wait before they can buy it.

Under the tauter new bodywork sits the new ‘EMP2’ platform that will underpin a range of future models from sister brands Peugeot and Citroen.



12 May 2010: Porsche 911 GT2 RS revealed

Following a leak from the press conference yesterday, Porsche has released the first official details and stunning images of its Porsche 911 GT2 Rs - the fastest and most powerful street-legal Porsche in the history of the company.

The final power output is up by 67kW over the standard Porsche 911 GT2 to an ungodly 462kW, while at the same time the RS version has shed 70 kilograms, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of just 2.21 kilos per horsepower.


HSV R8

12 May 2008: HSV R8 Tourer unveiled

HSV has announced the arrival of a new addition to its performance garage with the new HSV R8 ‘Tourer’, set to be released this October.

The Tourer will also feature the new 317kW LS3 V8 engine, which is now standard across the HSV fleet.
