Ford UK is expected to cut up to 550 jobs in the coming weeks, as part of the European restructure the company announced in January.
A new report byindustry journal Automotive News Europe says the exact number of UK positions to be impacted is still to be officially determined by Ford, on top of the 5000 jobs cut in Germany earlier this year.
Quoting a "person familiar with the matter", the company is expected to make the bulk of job cuts in salaried non-manufacturing areas in the UK.
The publication adds that the Blue Oval has offered voluntary redundancy packages to employees in Germany and the UK "to help accelerate the plan and return to sustainable profitability".
Ford's US$11 billion restructuring plan will see the European division split into three distinct arms – passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and imported vehicles.
The company is closing three factories across Germany and Russia, too, as part of the shift.
Ford is expected to make an official announcement in the coming weeks.
