Eye-catching hybrid grand tourer debuts in Barcelona, and could preview upcoming personalisation options.
Lexus Europe has revealed a special LC500h Matte Prototype for the 2019 Barcelona motor show, and it's anything but subtle.
The matte-finish Space Orange exterior paint is, in the company's words, "another example of the brand's effort to keep innovating, this time using special colours with original textures".
Lexus says the finish is "inspired by the orange tones that can be seen when looking towards the sun in clear sunsets".
In addition to the special exterior paint, the LC500h Matte Prototype sports 21-inch semi-matte black alloy wheels, along with a carbon-fibre roof and active rear spoiler – the latter two part of the $15,000 Enhancement Package in Australia.
Lexus has applied the Space Orange finish to the cabin, too, where it's been used as a contrasting trim element on the dashboard, steering wheel, and door inserts.
Power comes from the standard LC500h's petrol-electric hybrid system, which pairs a 264kW 3.5-litre V6 to a 132kW electric motor.
In standard guise, Lexus claims the LC500h can dash from 0-100 in 5.0 seconds, 0.3 seconds slower than the V8 petrol-powered LC500.
Speaking with CarAdvice, Lexus Australia's PR manager, Nick Raman, said: "We are always interested in evaluating personalised or special edition models for our market".
"In recent times we’ve been delighted to offer special edition LCs, RX Crafted and LX570 S. Watch this space for further special or limited edition models in the future."
