2018 Ford Ranger recalled

Ford Australia has issued another recall for its Ranger ute this week, this time affecting 2018 model-year vehicles that could have cracking brake calipers.

The Blue Oval reports that "some of the affected vehicles" could be fitted with a front brake caliper with material that "may not meet specification", which could cause the unit to crack.

If the caliper cracks, the brake warning lamp will illuminate in the driver's instrument cluster.

Ford says a cracked brake caliber could lead to the loss of brake fluid, which causes "increased brake pedal travel and increased stopping distances". This condition poses a hazard to the driver and other road users.

A total of 4648 utes are affected by this recall – the VIN list is available here.

Owners of the recalled Rangers will be contacted by Ford Australia, and advised to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer for inspection and repair.
