2019 Opel Combo 4×4 unveiled

The off-roading van conversion is done by French specialist Dangel, and includes taller suspension and extra underbody protection.

The Opel Combo Cargo 4x4 has been revealed with modifications to make the van more capable off the beaten track.

Developed and converted by Dangel, the Combo 4x4 features 20mm taller suspension, bash plates for the engine and transmission, and a recalibrated steering setup.

Two driving modes available: Eco, which keeps the van purely in front-wheel drive, and Auto 4x4, which enables the centre differential's viscous coupling to automatically transfer torque to the rear axle when the front wheels begin to slip.

There's also an R Lock button to permanently engage the rear axle.

Options include a limited slip rear differential, protective gear for the fuel tank and rear axle, and an even taller suspension package, giving the Combo 4x4 80mm of extra ground clearance compared to the regular model.

Unlike other members of the Combo family, the 4x4 is available solely as a panel van, and is powered exclusively by a 96kW 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine hooked up to a six-speed manual.

The Opel Combo 4x4 conversion starts from €6400 ($10,200) in Germany before taxes.

Dangel also produces 4x4 conversions for other PSA Group vans, including the related Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo, as well as the larger Peugeot Expert and Citroen Dispatch.
