The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio has set the first SUV lap records around three of the UK's top race tracks – Brands Hatch, Donington Park, and Silverstone.

Following its triumph at the iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife, where it recorded a 7 minute 51.7 second lap (fastest SUV), the production-spec Stelvio Quadrifoglio set down the first proper timed lap times for an SUV at the three British circuits.

At the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, the Stelvio posted a 'blistering' 55.9 second lap, then a 1 minute 21.1 second record at Donington Park, and a 2 minute 31.6 second lap at Silverstone.

Piloting the hi-po Italian SUV for each record attempt was professional racing driver, David Bruise.

"The performance from this family SUV is astonishing, its handling characteristics were really confidence inspiring and totally at home on track," Bruise said.

"It gave me all the things I needed to extract the best possible lap times and establish the three records."

Power in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio comes from a Ferrari-developed 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 making 375kW and 600Nm, good for a claimed 0-100 sprint in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 283km/h.

In Australia, the flagship performance SUV is on sale from $149,900 before on-road costs.
