Abarth 595 Esseesse returns for 70th anniversary in the UK
Update range commemorates milestone and adds new flagship variant with retro motorsport looks.
Abarth UK has revealed its refreshed 595 line-up in line with the company's 70th birthday celebrations, headlined by the reintroduction of the flagship 595 Esseesse variant.
Launching some 10 years after the original 'esseesse' kit for the new Abarth 500 launched in 2009, the MY19 Abarth 595 Esseesse gets the most powerful 180hp (134kW) tune of the company's 1.4-litre turbo four that powers the entire 595 range, and gets a host of unique appointments.
There's an Akrapovic exhaust system, a mechanical limited-slip front differential, Brembo front brakes with perforated and ventilated front discs and 'oversize' red calipers, 17-inch Supersport alloy wheels in a new Racing White finish, along with matching white accents in the form of side strips, contrasting mirror caps, and bumper inserts front and rear.
Rounding out the flagship performance hatchback's spec sheet are a model-specific air filter 'by BMC' which provides better intake air flow, Koni FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) suspension all round, 'Sabelt 70' carbon bucket seats, and carbon pedals, along with a 7.0-inch Uconnect navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Abarth says the special Sabelt seats that have been added to the esseesse model have "been redesigned with new shapes, inserts and padding, for an even more intense driving experience".
For the wider range, the 70th anniversary models get commemorative badging, while the Mopar accessories catalogue will be offering discounts on a range of products for further customisation.

Speaking with CarAdvice, FCA Australia said it is unable to confirm local availability for the 70th anniversary Abarth models but is "hopeful" that they will make their way to local showrooms.
