2019 Volkswagen Caddy recalled

Over 110 vans could have side airbags that don't deploy correctly, potentially putting occupants at increased risk of injury in the event of a collision.

Volkswagen Australia has issued a recall for the 2019 Caddy van over concerns the backrest padding in the front seats may stop the side airbags from deploying correctly.

"On Caddy vehicles of a limited production period, the front backrest padding may have been fitted incorrectly," the company says in its recall notice.

"In the event of a collision, the side airbags may not adequately deploy."

If the condition occurs, the airbags may not provide adequate protection in an accident, putting occupants at an increased risk of injury.

There are 119 vans affected by this recall, supplied between 1 September 2018 and 26 April 2019 – a VIN list is available here.

Owners will be contacted by Volkswagen Australia, to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
