24 April 2017: Honda Civic Type R sets Nurburgring record

Lapping the famous circuit in 7 minutes, 43.8 seconds, the Civic Type R steals the title from the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S - known here as the GTI 40 Years Edition - which managed a time of 7 minutes 49.21 seconds in May last year.

The record-setting lap was completed by a development car with technical specifications representative of the final production car.

22 April 2014: Volkswagen Golf R400 concept revealed

It's based on the newly released Volkswagen Golf R but ramps up performance with a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds and a 280km/h top speed that beats the production car by a full second and 30km/h respectively.

While the R 400 is only 15kg lighter than the regular R, the 400 represents 400PS - 295kW. That's an 89kW of power, produced 700rpm higher at 7200rpm, and torque also increases, from 380Nm to 450Nm, developed between 2400 and 6000rpm.

23 April 2013: Lexus IS F review

It may be a hard-hitting contender against better-known German rivals, yet the Lexus IS-F remains a leftfield choice for those in the market for a high-performance luxury four-door.

It seems that a slew of luxury features, fiercely competitive pricing and a reputation for unassailable reliability are not quite enough for the Japanese maker to muscle in on the European game.

21 April 2011: Volkswagen Beetle revealed

The Volkswagen Beetle has been reinvented once again with the introduction of the 2012 model year at the New York motor show.

Volkswagen has been careful to not only keep the original shape but modernize it to appeal to buyers in 2011. The 2012 Beetle is 1.808 m wide (8.3mm wider), 1.48m tall (12mm lower) and 4.27 meters long (152.4 millimeters longer).

23 April 2010: Volkswagen Phaeton revealed

The complexity of the car's on-board systems is now such that over 2000 separate cables measuring 3.2km connect the 60 different control units.

An advanced new air conditioning system controls humidity automatically while on the Phaeton W12 model, a four-zone climate control system is designed to be capable of maintaining cabin temperature at 22 degrees Celsius while travelling at 186mph (300km/h) through an outside ambient temperature of 50 degrees Celsius.
