Ford Focus Active delayed until June
Local division confirms mid-year launch for jacked-up Focus, set to take on the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Subaru XV.
Ford Australia has delayed the launch of its new Focus Active crossover until June, after previously being slated for a March arrival Down Under.
The Blue Oval was unable to confirm exactly why the new model has been delayed, either – much like the Fiesta ST hot hatch, which is now scheduled to arrive very late this year.
Despite this, we already have pricing and specs for the German-sourced Subaru XV rival, announced back in November last year.
Starting at $29,990 before on-road costs, the Focus Active is positioned smack bang in the middle of the small SUV segment, currently dominated by the likes of the Mitsubishi ASX and Mazda CX-3.
Key standard features include a raised ride height (+34mm) compared to the standard hatchback, and off-road styled body kit with contrasting bumper trims and skid plate-like inserts front and rear, along with model-specific 17-inch alloy wheels.
Other confirmed specification highlights include the 8.0-inch Sync 3 infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Nordic Blue contrast stitching on the fabric upholstery, keyless entry with push-button start, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist, and a rear-view camera.
Like the ST-Line hatchback and wagon, the Active is available with a handful of options, including the Driver Assistance Pack ($1250) and Design Pack ($1800), along with a panoramic sunroof ($2000) and premium paint ($650).
