MG to open seven new Aussie dealerships

That takes the brand's count to 32 in Australia, with the new locations focused heavily on Queensland.

MG has opened seven new dealerships on Australia's east coast, taking its total dealer count Down Under to 32.

The new showrooms are on the Gold Coast, in Cairns, Townsville and Hervey Bay for the Queensland market, at Ryde and Newcastle in New South Wales, and in Cranbourne, Victoria.

Danny Lenartic, MG Australia marketing director, said the push is part of the brand's push to become a "compelling, value-oriented brand".

"We’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead, kicking off with confirmation of seven strategic new dealerships, and strong sales results which see us up 581% year-to-date," he said in a statement.

It's worth bearing in mind, that huge growth still leaves MG with a 0.7 per cent market share. It finished March 2019 behind Volvo Car on 703 sale, and ahead of fellow Chinese brand LDV.
