2019 Audi Q2 pricing and specs

A new model year has delivered enhanced equipment levels and a simplified range to Audi's smallest SUV, as it goes head-to-head with the BMW X2 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Audi Australia has quietly made some running changes to the 2019 Q2 line-up, headlined by the culling of the 2.0 TDI diesel model and extra equipment across the range.

Kicking off the range as before is the 'design', which has been rebadged from 1.4 TFSI to 35 TFSI, as per Audi's new (odd) powertrain naming structure.

Priced from $41,950 plus on-road costs, the 35 TFSI design is $150 dearer than the MY18 model, but it gets equipment previously optional like 'Audi phone box light' (wireless phone charger), DAB+ digital radio, LED headlights, Manhattan Grey, lower body accents, and LED tail-lights with dynamic indicators.

Carryover equipment includes dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, leather-appointed seat upholstery, a leather multifunction steering wheel, and a 7.0-inch MMI Navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Power in the 35 TFSI design comes from a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, making 110kW between 5000 and 6000rpm, and 250Nm from 1500 to 3500rpm.

Drive is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic, with fuel consumption rated at 5.3L/100km on the combined cycle, while 0-100 takes a claimed 8.5 seconds.

Stepping up to the 40 TFSI quattro sport takes pricing up to $49,400 plus ORCs, a $900 increase over the MY18 version.

Additional specification includes 18-inch alloys, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, body-coloured lower body accents, an electric tailgate, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, sports front seats in leather-appointed upholstery, aluminium-look interior elements for the switchgear, and steering-mounted paddle shifters.

The 40 TFSI quattro sport is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol turbo four putting out 140kW (4200-6000rpm) and 320Nm (1500-4200rpm), sending drive to all four wheels via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch auto.

Audi claims the all-wheel driven Q2 will hit 100km/h from a standstill in a hot hatch-rivalling 6.5 seconds, while using just 6.5L/100km on the combined cycle.

Plenty of single-item options and packages are available to further enhance your Q2's equipment levels, including the Assistance Package ($990-$1600) which includes adaptive cruise control with stop&go, high-speed autonomous emergency braking, active lane assist, side assist (35 TFSI design), high-beam assist, hill hold assist, and Park Assist.

Next is the Comfort Package ($1900-$2400), adding keyless entry with push-button start, electric lumbar support for the driver and front passenger, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror (35 TFSI design), heated exterior mirrors with electric folding and auto-dimming functions, heated front seats, along with the storage and luggage compartment package (additional 12V sockets, luggage nets, and storage compartments under the front seats).

The Technik Package ($2500-$2700) brings the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit driver's instrument display, MMI Navigation Plus with an upgraded 8.3-inch display, enhanced features and 10GB media storage, and a sports multifunction flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Both variants can be had with the S line exterior package ($2500), which includes a sporty S line bumpers, a rear diffuser, S line badging, and aluminium door sill trims.

Finally, the 40 TFSI sport is also exclusively available with the S line sport package ($1500), adding 18-inch alloys in Y-spoke design, sports suspension with 10mm lower ride height, sports front seats in Alcantara/leather combination with 'S' embossing, perforated leather for the sports steering wheel, perforated leather for the gearshift, black headliner, matte brushed aluminium trim inlays, stainless steel pedals and footrest, and illuminated door sill trims.
