2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class recalled

Mercedes-Benz has called almost 600 high-tech hatches back to the dealership over an issue with high-beam headlights.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled the 2019 A-Class, over concerns about the high-beam activation lever.

According to the company, the high-beam lights can't be deactivated using the column stalk when the headlights are in auto mode. Instead, the driver has to put the car into 'manual driving light' mode, at which point they'll be able to dip the high-beams.

If the driver can't deactivate the high-beam system, there's a risk they'll dazzle oncoming drivers and create a risk of accident.

A total of 597 cars are included in the campaign – a VIN list is attached here.

Mercedes-Benz will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free software update with their nearest dealership.
