Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series revealed

British SUV gets yet another edition, this time combining an array of existing and new equipment options for a sportier look and feel.

Bentley has revealed the Bentayga V8 Design Series, developed in collaboration with its Mulliner coachbuilding division to give its SUV a more "visually dynamic" look.

As the name suggests, the Design Series is based on the Bentayga V8 petrol variant, picking up a range of existing options and special Mulliner bits to further distinguish it from the 'standard' model.

The 'Blackline' specification is fitted as standard, which includes a body-coloured lower front bumper apron, gloss black tailpipes, 'Design Series' badging, and new Mulliner Paragon wheels finished in dark metallic Palladium Grey with polished accents.

In a Bentley first, the new wheels see the introduction of the 'Mulliner Self Levelling Wheel Badge' – the 'B' centre cap maintains a vertical orientation as the wheels rotate using a weighting mechanism, just like a Rolls-Royce.

Inside, the Design Series gets a range of unique touches, available in four different themes – Pillar Box Red (pictured), Orange, Mulliner White and Klein Blue – around the Beluga black main hide.

Key aspects include a new line accent colour split as demonstrated by the red specification here, which sees the high-contrast colour applied across the dashboard and around the console, along with "lower accent areas".

There's also a new carbon-fibre weave insert for the dashboard and doors, specifically created for the Design Series. A piano black insert has been applied to the centre console and centre fascia.

Rounding out he interior specification are 'Design Series' embroidery for the seatbacks, deep-pile floor mats with contrast binding, and a diamond-jewelled Breitling clock with mother-of-pearl face – first seen on the Pearl of the Gulf edition revealed last month.

Power comes from the Bentayga V8's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 making 404kW and 770Nm, good for a 0-100 sprint of 4.5 seconds, and a claimed top speed of 290km/h.

Speaking with CarAdvice, Bentley's local division confirmed the Design Series Package is available to order now.

Pricing for the pack is $74,195.55 excluding stamp duty, on top of the list price for the Bentayga V8 which starts at $334,700 plus on-road costs.
