Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Limited, S-Overland on sale from $71,450

New sport-themed limited-edition models bring a range of cosmetic and equipment upgrades, along with the return of the 5.7L Hemi V8.

Jeep Australia has released a pair of special Grand Cherokee editions, dubbed the S-Limited and S-Overland.

Priced from $71,450 and $82,950 respectively before on-road costs, both versions bring a suite of cosmetic and equipment upgrades to the trim levels on which they're based, while the S-Limited also marks the return of V8 power in the core Grand Cherokee range.

Just 100 units of the S-Limited and 120 examples of the S-Overland will be brought to Australia, with sales commencing this month.

Here's a breakdown of each special edition.

Grand Cherokee S-Limited

Jeep says the S-Limited brings over $15,000 worth of value to the mid-spec Limited, for an $8500 outlay.

Key features include the 259kW/520Nm 5.7-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine, driving all four wheels and offering a maximum tow capacity of 3500kg.

Other extras include 20-inch 'Granite Crystal' alloys, a performance sports bonnet with vents plucked from the Grand Cherokee SRT, 'Premium Accent' body-coloured claddings all round, 'Granite Crystal' finish for the front grille, darkened tail-lights, LED fog-lights, black chrome trapezoidal exhaust finishers, gloss black roof rails and mirror caps, Granite Crystal exterior accents including the badges, and 'S' badging.

Inside, the S-Limited nabs a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 'Heritage' leather seats shared with the 25th Anniversary Edition, and 'Liquid Titanium' trim inserts.

Just two colour options will be available for the 100 allocated units – Bright White and Crystal Black.

Pricing starts at $71,450 before on-road costs.

Grand Cherokee S-Overland

With a claimed extra value of "over $9000", the S-Overland asks for $4500 over the regular Overland variant which currently heads the core Grand Cherokee range.

Power comes from the familiar 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, making 184kW and 570Nm sent to all four wheels. Like the S-Limited V8, the S-Overland V6 CRD claims a maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.

Externally, the S-Overland picks up 20-inch 'Granite Crystal' alloys, body-coloured cladding, Granite Crystal and Black accents for the front grille, LED fog-lights, darkened tail-lights, dark headlight bezels, black chrome exhaust finishers, Granite Crystal badging and exterior accents, black roof mouldings, and 'S' badging.

The interior is decked out with SRT seats trimmed in nappa leather with perforated suede inserts, suede door trims, an 825W 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, black wood trim inserts, and bright aluminium pedals.

A total of 120 units will be available Down Under, priced from $82,950 before on-road costs.
