2019 Lexus RC F pricing and specs

The Track Edition has lobbed, and the 'standard' RC F has been given a price cut to go with its better aerodynamics, sharper handling and lighter engine. Mmm.

Lexus has announced pricing for its updated RC F coupe, which now costs $134,129 before on-road costs.

That's a $3600 price cut for the outgoing RC F, which now sits below the Track Edition in the line-up. Power still comes from a 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 making 351kW of power and 530Nm of torque, put to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Under the skin, the car's suspension components have been made stiffer and lighter for 2019, while the steering is "firmer" than before. The changes are designed to sharpen up the car's handling, with better turn in at high speed and a feeling of greater stability once you're set in a corner. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres are standard, too.

The engine has been upgraded with a lighter intake manifold and new intake piping, and the engine mounts are more solid than before. Plus, the transmission is faster to downshift in Sport Plus, and offers Launch Control – making it the first Lexus to have the feature since the LFA.

Meanwhile, the cabin is still the cosseting, luxurious womb it's always been, with a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and leather-trimmed bucket seats. There's a 10.3-inch infotainment system in the centre of the dashboard, while safety kit is generous: rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and autonomous emergency braking are all standard.

Three Enhancement Packs will be offered atop the base specification. The first costs $5000 and brings polished 19-inch forged alloy wheels and a moonroof, the second costs the same and subs the polished wheel finish for a dark metallic look.

The third brings parts from the Track Edition, barring the fancy carbon-fibre exterior parts, for a subtler take on that car's particular formula. That means you get 19-inch BBS alloy wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust, carbon-fibre cabin trim and a moonroof.

You best start saving, though. Enhancement Pack 3 costs $29,161 – bumping the price to $163,290 before on-road costs, just $2400 short of the Track Edition.
