Kia Picanto X-Line becomes permanent, GT-Line manual on the cards

Local arm continues to expand micro car range as sales keep growing, with more variants in the pipeline.

Kia Australia has made the crossover-styled Picanto X-Line a permanent fixture in its range, following the success of this year's AO Edition.

Speaking with CarAdvice, Kia's local communications boss, Kevin Hepworth, said: "[The] X-Line is an ongoing model. The only difference is that it is no longer badged as an AO model".

We asked Hepworth if further variants are planned, such as a manual version of the sport-themed GT-Line, given the X-Line is offered with both five-speed manual and four-speed auto transmissions.

"There are plans underway for a manual gearbox for the GT-Line," he said.

"An official announcement will be out in due time."

The local Picanto range now comprises of four trim levels – S, GT-Line, GT and X-Line. Two powertrain options are available, though the 1.0-litre turbo is only available with the GT, and there are manual and auto options across the range depending on variant.

Pricing kicks off at $14,190 for the entry-level Picanto S manual, topping out at $17,990 for the flagship GT manual.

Kia continues to offer sharp drive-away pricing across most of the range, too, which we've listed below.
