2018-19 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, S-Class recalled

More than 300 cars are included in the campaign, which builds on a small S-Class recall announced at the same time.

Mercedes-Benz has recalled a smattering of 2018 and 2019 C-Class, E-Class and S-Class models, over concerns about an issue with the seatbelt detection system.

According to the company, it's possible affected cars will not register a correctly-engaged seatbelt. A warning light and tone will sound in the instrument cluster, and there's a risk the car's Pre-Safe system won't function.

If the seatbelt pre-tensioner doesn't operate before an accident, the "complete effect of the restraint system could not be ensured".

A total of 341 cars are included in the campaign, atop the nine listed in a separate notice for the S-Class. A VIN list is attached here.

Mercedes-Benz will contact owners of the affected vehicles, and advise them to get in touch with their nearest dealership to arrange a free fix.
