2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe unveiled

Brand's first 'coupe crossover' available for order now, and is available with a turbocharged V6 or a twin-turbo V8.

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe was unveiled overnight, and is largely unique from the A-pillar back.

Compared to the regular Cayenne, the coupe has a shallower A-pillar and front windscreen, 20mm lower roof edge, redesigned rear doors, and 18mm broader rear haunches.

There's also a heavily raked rear tailgate, which includes a roof spoiler and an active rear deck-lid spoiler that can extend itself by up to 135mm at speeds above 90km/h.

With its small rounded rear quarter window, thin strip of LED tail-lights, and the licence plate holder moved to the rear bumper, Porsche believes its successfully translated the look of the 911 and Panamera rear ends to its flagship crossover.

The Cayenne Coupe is fitted with seats for four people as standard, but buyers can opt for a three-person rear bench at no extra cost. Porsche claims there's no loss of head room for those in the back because the rear seats have been lowered by 30mm.

Boot space is rated 625 litres with the rear seats up, increasing to 1540L when the seats are folded down. The more powerful V8 model sees these ratings drop to 600L and 1510L, respectively.

At launch the Cayenne Coupe will be available with two drivetrain options. The $128,400 base model has a 250kW/450Nm 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 capable of completing the 0-100km/h dash in 6.0 seconds and hitting a top speed of 243km/h.

The more potent $254,000 Cayenne Turbo Coupe has a 404kW/770Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, which cuts the 0-100km/h time down to 3.9 seconds, and raises the top speed to 286km/h.

The Cayenne Coupe comes standard with a panoramic glass roof, 20-inch alloy wheels on the base model and 22-inch rims on the Cayenne Turbo, active suspension, speed sensitive power steering, front and rear parking assistance, a surround-view camera, and Sport Chrono Pack.

Available options include a carbon-fibre roof, carbon-fibre and fake suede trim for the cabin, and a sports exhaust setup.
