UPDATE: CAT's out of the bag! A big thank you to everybody who took the time to submit an application to our Community Approved Tester program. With hundreds of awesome applications it was a tough job for our judges, but we now have our finalists. We’ll introduce them to you very soon. Stay tuned!
If you missed your chance, stay tuned for the launch of our second phase! We'll announce the timing of that round in due course.
Have you ever wanted to get your hands dirty and be part of the CarAdvice team? We’re on the hunt for our very first CarAdvice Community Approved Testers to be part of a brand new program we’re launching.
What is the CarAdvice Community Approved Testers program?
We want to take this to the next level with our CarAdvice Community Approved Testers – a real-world extension of our editorial team!
When we want to get some fresh thoughts on our CarAdvice-owned fleet, we’ll throw the keys to one of our Community Approved Testers for a week.
When a brand wants some of our readers to drive their new car and give them their thoughts, we’ll call on our Community Approved Testers.
When we’re holding our next comparo and want to get some members of our community involved to help us decide on a winner, who are we going to call? You guessed it...our Community Approved Testers.
Get the idea?
We want a crew of real people, real consumers, and real drivers who can represent the CarAdvice brand!
Some of the things you might get to do as a CarAdvice Approved Tester are:
Drive and review our CarAdvice-owned cars
Have your own content published on CarAdvice.com
Join the CarAdvice editorial team on comparisons and Mega Tests
Participate in events and experiences with our OEM partners
We’ll also deck you out with some cool CarAdvice swag so you’re really repping the brand.
What kind of people are we looking for?
Are you the person that your friends turn to when they need advice about buying a new car? Do you know your torque from your kilowatts? Do you love to drive cars, talk about cars, and consume car content? We want people who love to break down the details and give us their thoughts and opinions, and want to help us create interesting and engaging content for CarAdvice and our partners.
If you’re selected to be a Community Approved Tester, you’ll have an official ‘bio’ in our Community Approved Tester crew list - which means if we have a project where we are looking for a certain mix of people (for example, families to test a new SUV, or tradies to give us their thoughts on a new ute), we know exactly where to turn. Too easy!
Alright, so we know who the hidden faces above belong to... but could you be next?
Sounds amazing! How do I apply?
We’re looking for a real variety of people from all walks of life for this program, so we’ll be asking questions not just about your car but who you live with and if you have any kids – this is just so we can get a real idea of your life and how you use your car on a day-to-day basis.
You’ll need to submit an owner review, which you can do here. If you’ve already had an owner review published on CarAdvice, then you can just include a link to your previous review. Please make sure you use the same email address for your owner review as you do for your Community Approved Tester application so we can match them up at our end!
We also want to get an idea of your personality (you might end up on camera in one of our upcoming projects!), so we want you to send us a 60-90 second video or audio piece of you reviewing your current car. It doesn’t need to be fancy, we just want to see and hear you in action!
For Phase One of the program we’re looking for testers from Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. If you live outside these areas, don’t worry - submit your application anyway, because we’ll keep you on the list and you’ll be the first ones we call for Phase Two!
To be eligible, you’ll need to hold a full and valid Australian driver’s licence (not learners or probationary), and if you’re shortlisted, you’ll need to be able to take a day off work to join us at our final selection event in Melbourne on May 30th.
Flights leave from Sydney and Brisbane, so you’ll also need to be able to make your own way to either of these airports (or if you are from Melbourne, to our office in Cremorne) if you’re shortlisted to attend this event. If you already know you can’t make it on that day, again - apply anyway so you’ll be on the list for the next round.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday 12th April 2019. If you’re keen to get on board, apply now!
