2019 BMW M2 CS spied

BMW's range-topping M2 has been snapped in the snow, wearing the telltale signs of a CS badge.

BMW's hottest M2, the upcoming CS (or should that be CSL?), has been snapped during cold weather testing in Europe, offering a closer look at its pumped-up body.

The new variant, which will sit above the M2 Competition in the range, is expected to offer 331kW when it launches later this year. That makes it around 30kW more powerful than the Comp, which itself is no slouch.

What's more, the car pictured is a manual, suggesting both three- and two-pedal variants will be offered. Choice is always good, right?

With a larger, gurney-style spoiler on the boot, a carbon-fibre roof and deeper, more aggressive-looking splitter and gold brake calipers, expect a similar exterior package to that offered on the M4 CS.

That car also has things like carbon door cards, a pared-back centre console, lighter bucket seats and a louder exhaust than the M4 models sitting below it in the range. Expect the M2 to get a similar treatment.

Those wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are nicked from the M4 as well. Those are very sticky tyres, but apparently the M2 CS is internally known as the Drift Machine. Sounds like fun...
