2020 Karma Revero teased

Karma is coming back around, with the promise of sharper looks and a more up-to-date powertrain. A full reveal is set for Shanghai next month.

Karma Automotive is bringing the Revero back, teasing the next-generation model ahead of its reveal at the Shanghai motor show next month.

It'll be shown alongside the all-electric Vision concept, and a car developed alongside Pininfarina, all of which will feature some form of electrification.

With that in mind, Karma is promising a vehicle that's "faster, smarter, and even more stunning in design than its predecessor".

We'd suggest the current Revero – known as the Fisker Karma in a past life – will get a power boost, bumping outputs up from 301kW and 1330Nm, and a better battery-only range than the 80km currently offered.

The current model only supports 40kW DC fast charging, which is well behind what's being offered around the industry, so we'd wager the new Revero will rectify that.

As for the looks, the teaser image reveals we'll see bigger headlamps inspired by the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, grafted onto a similarly curvy body. The solar roof appears to have carried over, too.

Along with the new car, Karma today announced it'll invest US$7.5 million in powertrain testing labs for its Californian test facilities. They'll be used for performance and durability testing on electric motors, generators and range-extender powertrains.

"Karma is a luxury car company, born in California, that’s driven by exclusive design and craftsmanship, advanced technology, customisation and delivering only the very best customer experience," Karma CEO, Lance Zhou, said in a statement.

"We now have a vision and roadmap for the company that’s building strong momentum and I can confidently say our best days are ahead of us."
