Ford Fiesta ST gets 165kW Mountune upgrade

Tuning firm Mountune has announced a new upgrade package for the Ford Fiesta ST, which can be installed via a smartphone app.

Dubbed m225, the flash tune bumps the three-cylinder hot hatch's outputs up to 165kW and 340Nm, up from the standard version's 147kW and 290Nm.

Mountune claims the upgrade drops the Fiesta ST's 0-100 time to "below the 6 second mark", and shaves a full second from the 31-62mph (50-100km/h) in-gear acceleration claim.

Buyers of the m225 kit also get three distinct modes; Performance, Stock, and Anti-Theft. Performance mode incorporates the aforementioned power upgrade, a more aggressive launch control and "enhanced audible exhaust output".

Meanwhile, Stock mode returns the Fiesta ST back to its standard calibration, while Anti-Theft completely immobilises the vehicle.

The m225 kit is being launched alongside Mountune's new mTune SMARTflash smartphone app, which allows customers to install and update their vehicle's calibration through their phone.

"SMARTflash makes it incredibly easy for our customers to switch between vehicle calibrations in as little as two minutes, just using their phone," said David Moore, director of Mountune.

"It adds a new level of convenience and functionality to our packages and embodies our forward-thinking approach to vehicle performance upgrades. The new Fiesta ST is the perfect platform to launch this DIY-friendly, pioneering technology. No laptop, no wires, no handsets – no problem!"

Pricing for the m225 kit is listed at £622 ($1160.56) for the UK. Ford Australia has confirmed with CarAdvice that there are "no plans to offer Mountune here at this stage".
