79 vans have been called back for incorrect labelling of the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) rating.
Volkswagen Australia has issued a recall for certain models from 2018 Crafter van line, over concerns inaccurate information on vehicle labels could lead owners to carry loads that are in excess of the vehicle's capacity.
The German manufacturer reports that the compliance labels on some 3550kg variants differ from production information and may state a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) rating that is in excess of the vehicle's capacity.
If consumers load the vehicle in excess of the actual GVM, Volkswagen says it's "an increased accident risk to vehicle occupants and other road users".
A total of 79 Crafter 3550kg vans have been confirmed to be affected by this notice – a VIN list is available here.
Owners of these vehicles will be contacted by Volkswagen Australia, and advised to contact their local dealer for inspection and rectification.
