2018-19 Volkswagen Polo recalled

Over 2000 hatchbacks could be fitted with handbrakes that may not fully apply.

Volkswagen Australia has issued a recall for the 2018 and 2019 model-year Polo range over concerns affected vehicles could have faulty handbrakes.

The German brand reports "the adjuster nut for the handbrake lever can loosen", which could prevent the handbrake from being fully applied.

"If the handbrake lever cannot be fully applied, it may lead to an increased risk of accident and injury to occupants of the vehicle and other road users," Volkswagen says in its recall notice.

A total of 2049 units are affected – the VIN list available here.

Owners will be contacted by Volkswagen Australia, and are advised to get in touch with their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their Polo.
