Porsche Cayenne Coupe to be revealed later this month – report

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe is just weeks away from reveal, the company's British boss has told Autocar.

Speaking with the UK-based publication, Marcus Eckermann, managing director for Porsche Cars Great Britain, said the new variant will be revealed later this month, ahead of an on-sale date during the northern hemisphere's autumn (September-November).

"The Cayenne Coupe is a very important car for us," he told Autocar, "In the UK, I don’t think it will make up as much as half of the overall Cayenne line-up mix, but it will be a good share of it."

Pitched as a rival to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe will fill a niche role in the company's line-up, and likely combine elements of the Cayenne wagon and the Panamera sedan in its design.

We've seen a retractable rear spoiler on recent development prototypes, hinting at the coupe version's more focused aerodynamics, though it's believed the powertrain line-up will be largely identical to that of the regular Cayenne. In saying that, the spoiler is a one-piece unit as opposed to the split design seen in the Panamera.

With that in mind, expect a range of six- and eight-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines to be offered, along with additional plug-in hybrid variants.

The interior layout will almost certainly carryover from the Cayenne wagon, with the only real difference be the sloping roofline – likely eating into headroom a little – along with reduced cargo capacity courtesy of that aforementioned coupe roof.
