Take a trip through the CarAdvice archives...

People often say “don’t forget where you came from”. Although we’re focused on every new car, every last detail here at CarAdvice, we have an extensive back-catalogue of news stories, lifestyle yarns and reviews.

Here’s a look at what happened on the week of March 12 in years past.

12 March 2018: RUF SCR revealed in Geneva

Almost exactly one year after revealing the reborn CTR in Geneva, RUF has whipped the covers off its big-money, lightweight take on the Porsche 911.

The modern iteration is significantly more powerful. Its naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine produces 380kW of power and 470Nm of torque, put to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Top speed is a suitably impressive 320km/h.

14 March 2017: Mazda planning Apple CarPlay, Android Auto rollout

The spokesperson added that both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto "should be retroactively upgradable onto all Mazda Connect systems with a potentially minimal hardware addition needed", meaning existing owners should be able to have their infotainment systems updated to offer the software.

10 March 2016: PSA publishes first 'real world' consumption data

PSA Peugeot Citroen has published what it claims are real-world fuel consumption figures for three of its most popular models, following an announcement late last year that it would commit to greater transparency with buyers.

11 March 2015: Audi Q8 'Coupe' on the way

The expansion focuses on SUVs, with the Mini Countryman-rivalling Q1 confirmed for 2016 and the large Q8 a little further down the track. The Q8 will be based on the new Q7, but will replace that car’s conservative family-focus with something sportier.

Audi RS6 Fastest Car on Ice - 5

14 March 2013: Audi RS6 sets 335km/h world record, on ice

Completed on a 12km ice track in the Gulf of Bothnia between Finland and Sweden, driver Janne Laitinen pushed the second-generation Audi RS6 to a new world record speed of 335.713km/h.

It's no surprise that Laitinen looks fairly relaxed behind the wheel of the 426kW/650Nm 5.0-litre twin-turbo V10-powered all-paw Audi super sedan, with the Finn holding the previous record, set in the same car in March 2011, of 331.61km/h.
