2018 Lexus IS300h, LS500, LS500h recalled
More than 180 luxury sedans have been called back over faulty run-flat tyres, which could crack and separate from the wheel.
Lexus Australia has issued a recall for the 2018 model-year IS300h, LS500 and LS500h this week, over concerns models fitted with run-flat tyres could experience unexpected deflation.
The Japanese marque reports affected vehicles could have tyres subject to an improper assembly process, which could see a crack develop in the sidewall reinforcement layer.
If the condition occurs, the crack could expand over time and affect the tyre's deflation, causing the temperature of the tyre to rise.
Lexus says under 'certain conditions', namely highway driving with low tyre pressure, could cause portions of the tyre tread layer to separate, causing a "reduction of vehicle stability and increasing the risk of an accident".
A total of 183 sedans are affected by this recall – the VIN list is available here.
Owners of the recalled Lexus models will be contacted by the manufacturer, and will be advised to present their vehicle to their local dealer for rectification.
