2016-19 Porsche 718 Boxster, Cayman recalled

More than 800 mid-engined sports cars have been called back to Porsche over an issue that creates a fire risk.

Porsche has recalled the 2016-19 718 Boxster and Cayman over a structural issue that puts the fuel tank at increased risk of damage in an accident.

According to the company, a frontal collision could make the lower longitudinal crash beam penetrate the bulkhead wall. If that happens, there's a higher risk of the fuel tank being damaged, creating a risk of leakage and, by extension, fire.

Affected cars were sold between February 23, 2016 and February 14, 2019. The recall includes 889 vehicles – a VIN list is attached here.

Porsche will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to get in touch with their nearest dealership for a free fix.
