2020 Buick LaCrosse revealed for China

Despite being killed off in its home market of USA, Buick's big sedan has received a refresh for China, the only remaining region it's sold.

General Motors (GM) has taken the covers off its updated Buick LaCrosse sedan for the Chinese market, which sports a far more upmarket design than the vehicle it replaces.

After being leaked in November last year, we get a clearer look at the final design of the large sedan, which looks like a mix of the smaller Buick Regal (sold here as the Holden Commodore) and the Mazda 6.

Up front there's a lower and wider aesthetic, accented by slimmer and more aggressive headlights. The grille has been redesigned, too, as has the front bumper.

The rear has also seen a significant redesign, with slimmer LED tail-lights joined through the centre of the boot lid by a chrome strip that spans the width of the rear.

Lower down the bumper has been refreshed, incorporating a more prominent diffuser-style insert with contrasting plastic (as demonstrated above).

As for power, the updated LaCrosse will get a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine shared with the Cadillac XT4, making 237hp (177kW) and 258lb-ft (350Nm) sent to the front wheels via a nine-speed automatic.

While there's no interior images supplied from China, it's likely the LaCrosse's cabin will feature minor changes to the trim and upholstery options, along with an updated infotainment system.

GM plans to produce the updated LaCrosse exclusively at its Shanghai facility, after it announced the closure of its Detroit-Hamtramck plant (one of three factory closures) in November last year.
