Jaguar XJ pulls ahead of German rivals in the UK

On the eve of the local launch of Jaguar’s spanking new flagship, the XJ, news in that the car has outsold rival car from both Mercedes-Benz and BMW during its first full month on sale in the UK.

The XJ was the category leader for the month of June ending with a result, which was 38 percent above Mercedes S Class and a whopping 70 percent above BMW’s 7 Series, both of which are extraordinarily good motor cars.

What’s even more encouraging is that many of the buyers are new to the brand.

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director of the Jaguar in the UK said: “Like the XF, 60 percent of people that have ordered an XJ are new to the Jaguar brand, with owners of premium German brands proving to be the keenest to buy an XJ.”

It’s a similar story with the XF over there, which has impressed with a 50 percent increase in sales year to date. In June, the XF outsold the Audi A6 and BMW’s 5 Series with total sales of 995 for the month.

Overall results so far this year for one of Britain’s most iconic automotive marques are equally as impressive, with a total tally of 8309 cars sold this year in the UK.

CarAdvice will be attending the launch of the XJ in Australia later this week and will post a review of the car by Monday.
