Ferrari F8 Tributo unveiled

Replacement for the 488 GTB has a more powerful V8 turbo engine, and a refined version of the outgoing car's platform.

The Ferrari F8 Tributo has been revealed ahead of its in-person debut at the 2019 Geneva motor show, which starts next week.

Powering the F8 Tributo is a 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 delivering 530kW of power at 8000rpm, and 770Nm of torque at 3250rpm.

This seems to be the same engine employed by the 488 Pista.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The F8 Tributo has a dry weight of 1330kg, a reduction of 40kg, and a claimed 0-100km/h time of 2.9 seconds.

Keeping the pedal to the metal, the car can cross the 200km/h mark in 7.8s and hit a top speed of 340km/h.

According to Ferrari's figures, the F8 Tributo is 0.05 seconds slower to 100km/h than the 488 Pista, but 0.1s quicker to that speed than the outgoing 488 GTB.

On the outside, the F8 Tributo is differentiated from the 488 GTB via more aggressively styled front and rear bumpers, and a new bonnet, which incorporates a Pista-style S-Duct.

The new headlight units include intakes to aid brake cooling, while at the rear the F8 Tributo features four afterburner-style tail-lights, and a Lexan rear window with louvres to help remove hot air from the engine bay.

The interior features a redesigned dashboard, door panels and centre tunnel. Key updates include round air vents, a new steering wheel with a smaller diameter, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the passenger.
