2019 Honda Civic sedan pricing and specs

Honda has made its range of active safety systems more accessible for Civic buyers, while the entire sedan range has been treated to a raft of small but meaningful upgrades.

Honda has announced pricing and spec information for the 2019 Civic sedan range, headlined by the news VTi-L and RS models will now come with the Honda Sensing safety suite as standard.

The active safety suite, previously reserved for the range-topping VTi-LX, brings autonomous-emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam.

Along with the wider range of safety tech, the VTi-L and RS have both gained electrically-folding rear-view mirrors for 2019. There are new alloy wheel designs across the range, with each trim grade gaining its own unique design, while the front bumper has been tweaked for a more muscular stance.

Changes continue behind the wheel, where there are fresh dashboard trims featuring a new, geometric pattern, new seat trims on VTi-S cars and above, red stitching for the RS, a proper volume knob (praise be), fixed buttons for the main infotainment functions, and tweaked climate controls for easier operation.

Finally, the RS can be had in Phoenix Orange, while Platinum White pearlescent paint is now available across the range.

Power in the base VTi and VTI-S comes from a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine making 104kW and 174Nm, while the rest of the range is offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-pot with 127kW and 220Nm. Both engines are mated with a CVT exclusively.

The VTi remains largely unchanged compared to its predecessor, with the same single-zone climate control system, fabric seats, eight-speaker audio system, 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, reversing camera, and fold-down rear armrest as before.

Jumping to the VTi-S bring about keyless entry, a piano black grille, push-button start, chequered seat inserts, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LaneWatch, parking sensors and rear privacy glass.

The VTi-L gets you the more powerful engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, dusk-sensing headlights and auto-folding mirrors. It also gains Honda Sensing, as previously mentioned.

Moving to the sportier (themed) RS gets you 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, a red-stitched leather steering wheel, leather seats with red stitching, eight-way power adjustable front seats, drilled alloy sports pedals, dual-zone climate, a 10-speaker audio system, and a boot spoiler.

Finally, the range-topping VTi-LX rides on new 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, paddle shifters for the CVT, seat heating and factory satellite navigation.
