Hispano Suiza Maguari HS1 GTC revealed

This is not the 'Carmen' teased earlier this month, this Hispano Suiza is from a different company based in Switzerland.

While the Hispano Suiza 'Carmen' set to debut at the 2019 Geneva motor show is an all-electric supercar being developed in Barcelona, this Hispano Suiza rebirth comes from a Switzerland-based firm.

This company was also responsible for the brand's 2010 concept car, and was founded car designers Erwin Leo Himmel and Olivier Boulay.

Himmel worked for Audi for almost two decades before starting his own consulting firm, while Boulay was once the chief designer for Mitsubishi, and is credited for the Grandis people mover and the company's then corporate face.

The Maguari HS1 GTC is powered by a Lamborghini-sourced 5.2-litre V10 assisted by two turbochargers and an electric compressor, and said to generate 798kW at 8200rpm and 1050Nm at 6650rpm.

All of this fury is channelled to the rear wheels via a seven-speed sequential transmission. Thanks to its carbon-fibre body and aluminium space frame, the vehicle is said to weigh 1780 kilograms.

The Swiss automaker claims the Maguari is capable of completing the 0-100km/h dash in 2.8 seconds, and hitting an electronically limited top speed of over 380km/h.

Only 300 Maguari HS1 GTC coupes will be built, and the first ten will be special edition models sold with matching driving gloves, shoes, luggage and handbag.

According to the company, the special edition model will only be offered to a "selected circle of individuals and collectors".
