Skoda Vision iV concept sketched

Czech brand previews all-electric SUV coupe concept ahead of its Geneva reveal. The company plans to present 'more than ten' EV models by the end of 2022.

Skoda has teased its Vision iV concept with a pair of design sketches, ahead of its official unveiling at next month's Geneva motor show.

Dubbed a 'concept study', the Vision iV is an all-electric four-door crossover coupe that could preview the brand's first EV model to be based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB architecture.

Key features confirmed for the concept include 22-inch "aerodynamically optimised wheels" and side cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors, with the latter "visually reminiscent of shark fins".

Up front there's and LED light strip that spans the width of the fascia, joining the headlights through the upper section of the grille.

Down back, there's 'crystalline' LED tail-lights that 'redefine' the typical C-shape of Skoda's current signature design.

The Vision iV concept changes things up at the rear with 'SKODA' script across the tailgate in place of the company's arrow-head logo, and a redesigned light strip insert nestled in the rear bumper.

It appears the new concept bound for Geneva is yet another refinement of the two iterations of Vision E crossover coupe concepts show last year, giving a clearer look at what the first MEB-based model from Skoda will look like.

Details of the powertrain are as-yet unconfirmed for the Vision iV, though the Vision E sported a dual-motor setup putting out a combined 225kW of power and offering a driving range of up to 500km.

Skoda has confirmed it will launch a plug-in hybrid version of the Superb (above) later this year, along with an all-electric version of its Citigo micro hatch (essentially a rebadged Volkswagen Up!).

In 2020, the brand says the MEB-based model will go into production, and have more than 10 electrified models enter the market by the end of 2022.

Speaking with CarAdvice, Skoda Australia said it's still "in discussions" with regards to its electrified rollout Down Under, making it unclear whether will see the plug-in Superb locally.

Volkswagen's local arm has already confirmed it will bypass PHEVs altogether and commence its electrified push with the upcoming all-electric I.D. family in Australia from 2021.
