2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia pricing and specs

Italian C-Class rival gets equipment update for new model year, headlined by additional active safety tech and improved infotainment now included as standard across the range.

Alfa Romeo Australia has released pricing and specifications for the upgraded 2019 Giulia line-up this week, with the range kicking off from $60,900 before on-road costs – a $1000 jump from before.

The four-tier line-up remains, but the previous model's diesel options have now been dropped, leaving the 147kW 2.0-litre turbo petrol as the sole engine for base grades.

Starting at the base level, the 'Giulia' variant now gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as standard equipment – representing $1000 in extra value, according to Alfa Romeo, offsetting the $1000 increase over the 2018 model.

The Super (from $65,900) gains 35W adaptive bi-xenon headlights with auto high-beam, along with heated outboard rear seats, which the company says equates to over $2000 in extras, justifying the $1700 increase.

Stepping up to the Veloce (from $72,900), MY19 versions now get eight-way power-adjustable front seats, and heated rear pews. Alfa Romeo values these extras at over $2000, which offsets the $1000 adjustment in price.

Finally, the range-topping Quadrifoglio (from $145,900) gains heated rear seats, five-seat capacity, and leather/Alcantara trim on the steering wheel with carbon-fibre insert equating to $4000 of extra specification, for $2000 than the previous price.

As before, the Giulia Veloce is powered by a 206kW 2.0-litre turbo four, while the Quadrifoglio performance flagship retains its Ferrari-developed 375kW 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. Regardless of engine, all Giulias send drive to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Options for the 2019 model year include the $4000 Veloce Pack for lower grades, incorporating active suspension, 19-inch alloys, red brake calipers, privacy glass, heated sports front seats and a heated sports steering wheel, along with aluminium pedals and trim inserts.
