Range Rover Sport HST revealed for the UK

Special-edition SUV debuts the company's new twin-charged inline six with mild-hybrid tech, boasting 294kW and a 6.2-second sprint from 0-100km/h.

Range Rover has revealed a new variant of the Sport in the UK, headlined by the introduction of the company's new Ingenium inline six announced earlier today.

Dubbed the Range Rover HST, the special-edition model features the high-output 400PS (294kW) of the new 3.0-litre inline six with mild-hybrid technology, which also puts out 550Nm of torque.

The electrically supercharged and turbocharged motor is paired with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission sending that grunt to all four wheels.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) claims the Sport HST can hit 100km/h in a hot hatch-rivalling 6.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 225km/h (140mph).

Fuel consumption, meanwhile, is rated at 9.3L/100km on the combined cycle.

Distinguishing features on the HST grade include unique badging, carbon-fibre trim on the bonnet, grille, side vents and tailgate, along with red brake calipers – though anodised grey is optionally available.

Inside, you get 16-way electrically-adjustable Dynamic front seats with suede details for the steering wheel and gearshift.

Satin Chrome paddle shifters can be found on the steering wheel, along with an HST-badged fascia.

Pricing starts from £81,250 ($147,192.62) in the UK, with order books open now.

Australia

Range Rover's local arm has confirmed the HST won't be available to the Australian market, though a version of the Sport should debut the new inline-six powertrain Down Under next year.
