Toyota 86 British Green Limited revealed for Japan

Japanese sports car gets iconic British colour combo, but at this stage it's only for the company's domestic market. Shame.

Toyota Japan has revealed a new special-edition version of its entry-level sports car: the 86 British Green Limited.

Yes, that's right, it's named after the iconic shade of green the Brits have used on their motorsport entrants for decades, and it looks great on the little Toyota 86.

There's plenty of other special equipment items to go with the new paint finish, too, including bronze alloy wheels, Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers, Sachs sports dampers, and a black spoiler with green winglets at the rear.

Inside, the British theme continues with tan accents on the leatherette/Alcantara seats, contrast stitching throughout the interior, the deletion of the touchscreen infotainment system – though basic versions in Japan also get a blank panel in place of a screen.

Toyota's North American division has already confirmed to overseas publications the British Green Limited is "only available in Japan at this time", though the general consensus from other reports is that global enthusiasts would appreciate such a model.

Speaking with CarAdvice, Toyota Australia's manager for public affairs, Brodie Bott, echoed the North American division's statement saying: "At this stage, the British Green Limited won’t be offered on the Toyota 86 in the Australian market".
