The BMW 9 Series probably won't be happening any time soon, so if you're hanging out for a bigger and more luxurious BMW sedan, it's time to start evaluating other options.
Speaking with Autocar, Klaus Fröhlich, BMW's head of research and development, said: "I don’t think you need a 9 Series. In this segment, you need three cars – an X car, a saloon and an emotional sporty car – and we have them: the X7, 7 Series and 8 Series."
The R&D chief went on to say some of the company's competitors are already reducing the number of models they offer in this segment due to the low volumes involved.
Several reports have surfaced during this decade about a new 9 Series sedan model to fill the gap between the long wheelbase 7 Series and the Rolls-Royce Ghost.
