Lexus USA launches Complete Lease subscription

The service follows in the footsteps of Care by Volvo, and bundles all the costs of running a car into one monthly payment.

Lexus has joined the horde of manufacturers offering a subscription service, although it's not technically being marketed that way.

The new Complete Lease program will be offered on the UX SUV in the California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Rather than selling people a car and forcing them to find their own insurance, book their own maintenance, pay their own registration... all the stuff that comes with buying a new car, essentially, Lexus will bundle it all into one monthly payment. Like a subscription service, then.

Regardless of whether you've chosen the UX200 or UX250h, the leases will be two-year terms good for 32,187km. Connected vehicle services are included, along with the SiriusXM satellite radio system popular in the USA.

Lexus hasn't chosen the UX as its subscription starting point by accident. Volvo debuted its Care By Volvo subscription on the XC40, too, as both of these cars are aimed at younger buyers.

Toyota has also this week announced its first subscription service. There are two plans being offered to Japanese buyers, costing between $626 and $1345 per month on the basic plan and $2445 for the top plan.

Australia

We've contacted Lexus Australia to see if a similar leasing plan will be offered in Australia.
