Toyota teases TRD Pro off-roader for Chicago

A new 4x4 is set to make its debut at the Chicago motor show later this week, though we aren't entirely sure what it will be based on.

Toyota USA has released a single teaser image and preview video of a new off-road model it plans to reveal on February 7.

"A new TRD Pro off-road beast will be unleashed at this year’s Chicago Auto Show, leading the charge for a host of updates across the TRD Pro lineup," the company said in its press release.

Not much else is known about this new model, though it will be shown alongside the updated 2020 Tacoma pick-up truck at the Chicago event.

In the States, Toyota already offers a range of 'TRD Pro' models that are based on existing models with more rugged looks and off-road equipment – think along the lines of the HiLux Rugged offered here.

American reports seem to think the new model will be based on the Sequoia, which is a full-size SUV based on the Tundra pick-up, as it currently doesn't offer a TRD Pro pack while its ute equivalent does.

Stay tuned for our coverage of the reveal on February 7.
