Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition confirmed for Australia, here Q1 2019

Superhero-themed crossover headed Down Under, sporting movie-inspired aesthetics and equipment so you feel like Tony Stark.

Hyundai Australia has confirmed the Kona Iron Man Edition will be headed to local showrooms in the coming months, following its initial reveal at Comic-con last July.

Just like the model detailed for the UK last month, Australian-delivered Iron Man Editions will feature matte grey exterior paint with Iron Man red exterior accents and contrasting roof, unique bumpers and 18-inch alloy wheels, along with Iron Man emblems and badging scattered around the exterior.

The limited-run model also picks up LED daytime-running-lights inspired by the superhero's eyes, Tony Stark's signature on the dashboard, a special welcome animation for the head-up display, and an Iron Man graphical interface for the infotainment system.

Other interior features include piano black control surrounds, metallic red trim inserts, contrasting red stitching and piping throughout the cabin, red seatbelts, and 'premium' door trims.

Since it's likely based on the top-spec Highlander, the Iron Man-themed Kona also picks up full-LED lighting front and rear, leather-appointed upholstery on the seats, steering wheel and gearshift, 10-way power adjustment for the driver's seat, privacy glass, single-zone climate control with floor-mounted vents, an 8.0-inch touchscreen navigation system with SUNA live traffic updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker Krell audio system, DAB+ digital radio, along with keyless entry and start.

There's also the Hyundai SmartSense suite as standard incorporating autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and driver attention monitoring.

Power will come exclusively from the top-spec 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine according to the local website, making 130kW and 265Nm sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Hyundai Australia is yet to confirm pricing as yet, though we can expect the Kona Iron Man Edition in local showrooms before the end of the first quarter.

Stay tuned for an update when prices are released.
