It's widely believed the car seen here, a successor to today's Ford EcoSport, has been engineered with the developed world in mind, and rides on the same platform as the current Fiesta.
The current EcoSport was designed primarily for the India, South America and other developing nations, and has not been warmly received outside of these markets.
Although there's a lot of disguise on this prototype, we can see the new crossover will share a lot of styling cues with the latest Fiesta and Focus, including the wavy shoulder line and side window shapes.
Unlike the EcoSport, this crossover doesn't feature a side-hinged rearmost door. In addition to a lift-up tailgate, the spare tyre has seemingly been shifted back to a spot underneath the boot floor.
It's not known if the company will stick with the EcoSport name for the crossover's replacement, or go with something different.
