2019 Maserati Ghibli Scatenato revealed

Just 20 examples of the mildly-fettled sedan will be brought to Australia, with bigger wheels and a (slightly) sportier interior than the standard model.

Maserati has revealed a limited-edition version of the Ghibli for Australia, dubbed the Scatenato, with just 20 examples on offer.

The mid-sized sedan, which gets its name from the Italian word for unleash, is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine making 261kW. It's good for a 5.5 second sprint to the ton and a 267km/h top speed.

Hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission, it'll return a claimed 11.0L/100km on the combined cycle.

Separating the Scatenato from regular Ghibli models is a set of forged 21-inch alloy wheels, hiding brake calipers finished in Maserati Blue. That's about it for the exterior, which otherwise mirrors that of the regular Ghibli.

Bigger changes have been made to the interior, where the driver and passenger sit in sports bucket seats trimmed in leather. They're electrically-adjustable and heated, naturally, and there's a sports steering wheel. The dashboard is trimmed in piano black.

On the technology front, there's traffic sign recognition and blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control are all standard fitment.

Just 20 examples of the Scatenato are coming to Australia, priced at $154,990 drive-away.
