The Mercedes-AMG GLB35, a performance-oriented variant of the company's upcoming crossover, has been photographed during winter testing.

This is the first evidence we've seen of an AMG-tuned version of the GLB. We believe it is a 35 model, sharing the drivetrain of the A35 hatch unveiled late last year.

Should that be the case, this crossover will have a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 225kW of power and 400Nm of torque under its bonnet.

In the A35, drive goes to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The hatchback is capable of completing the 0-100km/h standard in 4.7 seconds, and has an electronically restricted top speed of 250km/h.

Compared to earlier GLB prototypes, this AMG model has the tuning division's grille, a different front bumper with revised air intakes, a more aggressive wheel and tyre combination, and what seems to be lowered suspension.

At the back the GLB35 sports a revised bumper with visible exhaust tips.

The previous batch of spy photos showed the GLB will have an interior design similar to other recent Mercedes-Benz models, with a free-standing rectangular section for the digital instrumentation and MBUX infotainment displays taking pride of place on the dashboard.

Under the car's G-Class-inspired styling, the GLB will ride on the company's latest MFA2 front- and all-wheel drive platform shared with the new A-Class and CLA.
