Mitsubishi Engelberg concept teased

Details are scarce, but we know the electrified crossover vehicle will make its debut at the Geneva motor show in March, featuring a development of the Dynamic Shield grille rolling out across the Mitsubishi range.

Named after an alpine resort and town almost smack-bang in the middle of Switzerland, the Mitsubishi Engelberg will be some sort of electrified crossover concept.

We don't know if the Engelberg will be a pure-electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid. Mitsubishi says the car will bring "further developments in SUV styling and practicality along with a focus on next-generation technology and enhanced EV performance".

In keeping with its electrified drivetrain, the Engelberg will have an electric blue interpretation of the company's Dynamic Shield grille, while the roof-mounted spotlights indicate the car will be pitched as a true off-roader.

The automaker also states the vehicle will bring "more... style to the lineup", hinting the Engelberg previews a production vehicle, possibly the next-generation Outlander.

Given the third-generation Outlander began production in 2012, a replacement vehicle should be appearing in the near future.

It's not clear how the integration of Mitsubishi and Nissan will or has affected planning for the fourth-generation Outlander.

We'll know more about the Engelberg when it's revealed on March 5, European time.
