2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift spied inside and out

Caught during cold weather testing in Sweden, the updated sedan includes new lights, and the latest MBUX infotainment system.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift has been spied again in northern Europe, but this time our spy agency has managed a look at the car's interior.

As we saw in an earlier series of spy photos, the update for the current E-Class won't be as dramatic as the reshaping the previous generation underwent for its mid-life facelift.

Up front it seems changes are limited to a restyled bumper, new grille designs, and revised graphics for the headlights. Expect them to fall into line with the new A-Class and CLA, both of which are edgier and more angular than the older E.

At the rear the tail-lights have been given a graphic refresh, and may be a little larger than today's units, although it's tough to tell with all the camouflage.

In the cabin, the E-Class will gain the MBUX infotainment system and the company's latest digital instrumentation setup. As the current dashboard was designed around a widescreen slab, the inclusion of MBUX doesn't require a major rejig of the interior.

The sleeker three-spoke steering wheel should be joined by trim updates and some new alloy wheel designs.

Updated four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines are probably on the cards for the E-Class, with more models benefiting from mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid assistance.
