2020 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid, plug-in hybrid facelift unveiled
New grille, and completely redesigned dashboard dominate the changes.
A facelift for the Hyundai Ioniq hybrid and plug-in hybrid models has been unveiled overnight, just a month after the current model arrived in Australia.
External revisions to the Ioniq include a revised grille, tweaked front bumper design, new LED driving lights, and new LED headlamps and tail-light graphics for top-spec models.
Grille aside, the changes to the car's exterior are pretty subtle. Interestingly Hyundai has decided to make more extensive revisions to the interior.
The dashboard has been reshaped and restyled. It contains a new instrument binnacle, and a new free-standing pod to house the touchscreen infotainment system.
Entry-level models have an 8.0-inch display, while range-topping variants use a larger 10.25-inch screen. Underneath are a capacitive controls for the audio and climate control systems, as well as a repositioned set of central air vents.
Other changes include an adjustable regenerative braking system, one-pedal driving mode, automatic EV mode engagement for designated "green zones", and a new Eco+ mode.
In South Korea and Europe, at least, the updated Ioniq is fitted with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, driver attention warnings, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring as standard.
Hyundai has not specified any changes to the drivetrain to the Ioniq hybrid or PHEV. An update for the fully-electric Ioniq will "follow soon".

Hyundai says the Ioniq facelift is due locally in the second half of 2019, with all three models expected to be refreshed.
