GAC Entranze concept unveiled

Electric people mover one of just a few concepts at this year's Detroit motor show.

The GAC Entranze concept has debuted at the 2019 Detroit motor show, as the company continues to build up its presence in the United States.

The Entranze was designed at the GAC design centre in Los Angeles by Pontus Fontaeus, the company's chief designer.

With its "slick bullet" shape, the concept is said to mix the space efficiency of a people mover with elements from crossover vehicles.

In an unusual step, the Entranze has a 3+2+2 seating layout, with a small middle seat at the front and captain's chairs for the second and third rows.

Said to be built on an electric vehicle platform, GAC hasn't provided any details regarding its power, performance or range.

GAC is looking to expand its footprint in the US, and used the show to announce a new research and development centre in suburban Detroit.

The new facility in Farmington Hills will join the aforementioned design centre, and a research unit in Silicon Valley.

At the Detroit show GAC also announced it will also setup a new sales headquarters in California. Reports indicate the company, which specialises in crossover vehicles, is looking to start selling cars in the US as early as this year.
