Infiniti QX Inspiration concept revealed in full

Car previews the brand's first all-electric vehicle and its latest styling direction.

The Infiniti QX Inspiration concept car has been unveiled in full at the 2019 Detroit motor show.

Riding on Infiniti's upcoming all-electric platform, the QX Inspiration is said to preview the brand's first fully-electric vehicle: a new mid-size crossover with a "high-performance" bent.

The car's battery pack is located under the floor to ensure a low centre of gravity for improved handling. It is hooked up to an electric motor on each axle, allowing for all-wheel drive as required and "blistering off-the-line acceleration".

The company hasn't provided any power outputs, performance details or range estimates for the QX Inspiration's drivetrain.

Measuring 4650mm long, 1630mm tall, and riding on a 2850mm wheelbase, the QX Inspiration has a cab-forward design and short front and rear overhangs.

The car rides on 22-inch wheels, and has a Kamm-back design for improved aerodynamic efficiency and a sportier look.

According to Infinti, its new electric car platform opens up exciting opportunities for interior design, with the company leaning heavily on the Japanese sense of beauty and aesthetics.

The concept's cabin features timber louvre headlining, said to be inspired by Japanese architecture, while the flat floor is covered in rhomboid white suede panels with gold inlays.

Capable of rotating 30 degrees outwards, the front seats are designed for easy ingress and egress, while the rear pew has been designed as a "relaxing sofa-style" area.

The seats, doors and dashboard all feature the company's patented dot-quilted fabric, which is inspired by Chesterfield lounge chairs. In another home-inspired piece of design, the centre console is covered in Bianco Carrara marble.

In addition to the configurable instrumentation screen and infotainment display, the QX Inspiration also features a smaller screen ahead of the front passenger and a widescreen display in the centre of the steering wheel.
